FAIRVIEW FARMERS

Small Business Impact Report

On Friday, December 6th, the Fordham Marketing Association’s Entrepreneurship Committee hosted an Entrepreneur Pop-Up Event for Gabelli student and Entrepreneurship Committee member, Besa Mixha. The Entrepreneurship Committee was honored to host Besa and her family business at the event.

The event saw the committee recreate a small breakfast style pancake stand from Besa’s Fairview Farmers Restaurant located in Fairview, Texas. With a sophisticated and dynamic menu, Besa decided to highlight her Fairview Farmers’ famous buttermilk pancakes. With this selection, we were able to make the pancakes in front of the customers, creating an opportunity for the customer to explore our process, as well as converse with the owner, Besa, and understand her story.

These small moments between customers and Besa gave the most insight into the restaurant that Fairview Farmers is and the family that run it. In conversing with customers, Besa explained how Fairview Farmers is very much a small family business, run by her parents, with the goal of bringing clean, quality, affordable, and homecooked food to people in the Dallas area.

Customers felt the story, but the beauty of the event came to fruition when their faces lit up with excitement after trying their pancake! The taste of a fluffy buttermilk pancake right off the griddle made many understand why the committee was so determined to bring a Fairview based business all the way to New York!

In all, it was an honor for the committee to host the event, feature a student entrepreneur, and a family who strives to do nothing but the best for their customers and their community. I want to again thank Besa and the entire Mixha family for allowing us to bring Fairview Farmers to Fordham!

Testimonials from Committee Member - Erin Edgerton:

For our first pop-up of the year, one of our team members, Besa, introduced us to her family’s small business called Fairview Farmers. Using one of their pancake recipes, we set up a table in our student center and served pancakes to many students. I believe that part of our impact will come from the Instagram post we will release that shows how Fairview Farmers has reached across the country through our committee. With plans to tag their official account, they will be able to repost our pictures and show their community pictures of students from Fordham enjoying their recipes and foods. The hope with this post is for us to reflect on our experience with the pop-up and give them some content to benefit their brand image.
